The Art 4 Earth Foundation, founded by Rebecca Jones, was created to engage communities and produce an annual festival centered around unique art installations to highlight, celebrate and fund art and educational programs as well as 501(c)(3) charities dedicated to healing and protecting the environment.Rebecca grew up on the Gulf Coast and watching the Deep Horizon oil spill tragedy on television was devastating…..all she could think about is what can I do? The Gulf of Mexico is literally being murdered and so are the plants and animals that live in it. There is a huge dead zone (a lack of oxygen) at the mouth of the Mississippi River. 50% of the oxygen we breath comes from the oceans. She learned about the five gyres and the enormous amounts of plastic damaging the oceans of the world, getting into the sea creatures and eventually into those who consume them, causing disease and deformity. Music and art are universal healers in themselves and aid in bringing people together. These issues cannot have enough people and organizations working to help this planet heal itself….our survival depends on it.
